Glow's POV
I heard the dogs arriving when it was too late. All senses alert, I watched as the girl's allies, presumably, circled around us. However, they had only 1 extra dog so gaps were left in their ranks. I glanced up as the girl repeated her question. An idea flashed in my head.
"Thanks for the offer, but no. I'll just take the rabbit and go," I barked. Putting on a burst of speed, I dashed through the gap between the girl and a doberman, kicking out as they lunged towards me. I had no idea if my allies were following. I hurtled across the clearing, grabbed the rabbit and plunged into the bushes. Pawsteps behind me told me someone was following. I was relieved to discover it was Chelsea.
"They are going to kill you," she panted, struggling to keep up with my long strides. I wagged my tail in reply. There was no chance to stop, as we were not the fastest of dogs and they had had a sighthound in their group. We had been running a while, when the forest fell silent, and we realised that Decon wasn't with us.
