I could see that Ludwig was going to agree before he spoke. I figured I should have apologised for misjudging Axis and Nikolai but I didn’t feel that it was necessary. After all, they could easily have cleared it up months ago. Nikolai had let the rumour run on for almost a year. It wouldn’t have been hard to settle it back in Chernobyl when Glow and I met up with him. So I did have some reason to have doubted him. But I wasn’t going to mention that now. The fact was - it was over. I knew the truth and I knew that Glow did to. What Glow would do about it now was not my concern. He would probably ask for an alliance with Ludwig. After all, Glow was the one that suggested North Front as an ally back in the DARPG Winter Hunger Games. He had admired them for their military discipline and had installed a similar order back home. He always picked them for his allies or met up with them during the Games. This meant we would be seeing each other soon

Today was the day we would be introduced to the rest of the Tributes. The day alliances would be made. And for what? Maybe team up for a few kills but sooner or later they would turn on each other. It might be a sneak attack or a full out confrontation. Either way, one of them would start it. One of the dogs would decide they no longer needed their ally. That he was expendable. I was sick of that happening to me. First King, then Radar. Of course, neither had been official allies. King had been an ally of Nikolai and Radar an ally of Axis. But I had joined them. I had fought by them. I had trusted them. And for what? So King could stab my in the back. So Radar could chase me into a dead end. He claimed it had been revenge for Shiver. Shiver attacked me! I took her ribbon in self-defence whereas Radar’s kill was a cold-blooded murder.
So I arrived at the event as normal. I wound my way through the group. Chatting to a few, laughing at jokes, pretending every
